Specifications

I Description and Scope

The MULTICOAT CRACK REPAIR SYSTEM is to be used to fill and resurface cracked concrete prior to application of the various MULTICOAT surface renovation systems. The CRACK REPAIR SYSTEM utilizes three components - MULTICOAT SPEED MIX, STITCHBONDED POLYESTER FABRIC, and MULTICOAT MULASTICOAT Elastomeric Membrane.

II Materials

(1) Cementitious MULTICOAT SPEED MIX as manufactured by Multicoat Corporation

Coating shall be a two-component product consisting of a dry cementitous mix and a Liquid Catalyst. Components shall be mixed at job site in pre-determined proportions for application by roller. Physical properties of the cementitous coating shall meet or exceed the following ASTM Test results.

Crack Repair System
  TEST METHOD RESULTS
1. Weatherometer ASTM G23 2000 Hrs.-Passed
2. Compression Strength ASTM C109...
45 Days air cured
2595psi
3. Tensile Strength ASTM-C190 457psi
4. Bond Strength ASTM-C297 192psi
5. Abrasion ASTM-1242A...
1000cyc-1000gms

6. 50-Cycle Freeze Thaw ASTM-C67 Passed
7. Flexural Strength ASTM-D790 Modulus of Rupture-770psi
8. Salt Spray Resistance ASTM-B117 Passed 18 cycles
9. Water Vapor Transmission ASTM-E96A 1.25 Perms

(2) Elastomeric Waterproofing Membrane - Multicoat MULASTICOAT - as manufactured by Multicoat Corporation

The waterproofing membrane shall be special water-borne modified latex, having physical properties that meet or exceed the following ASTM Test results.

a. Tensile Strength - ASTM D412-83: 914 psi

b. Elongation - ASTM D412-83: 289%

c. Low Temperature Flexibility: -5 Degs. F

d. Bond Strength to Concrete - ASTM C297: 209 psi

e. Water Vapor Transmission - ASTM E96: (.0044 grains/hr/ft.sq.)

(3) STITCHBONDED POLYESTER FABRIC

a. Weight 2.75 oz/Sq. Yd.

b. Tensile Strength MD/TD 31.6 Lbs.

c. Elongation 40.6%

d. Mullen Burst 99.6 Lbs.

e. Tear Strength 13.2 Lbs.

III Application

Fill properly prepared cracks with SPEED BOND material. Backer rod or sand should be placed in cracks where depths are greater than 3/8". Inject SPEED BOND material into crack, level with the surface of the substrate. (Note: Follow directions on the cartridge carefully when using material).
After dispensing, immediately spread SPEED BOND flush with deck surface using a plastic spreader. Allow to harden 10-45 minutes (depends on ambient temperature) then grind SPEED BOND material to level and abrade surface.
Now you are ready to coat over the repaired crack(s) with MULTICOAT Products and Systems.

IV SURFACE PREPARATION

All cracks larger than 1/16" in width must be opened with a crack chaser to a minimum of 1/4" in width. Once opened, all cracks must be cleaned by sandblasting, waterblasting or water sandblasting.
Note: Cleaning out prepared cracks may be done in conjunction with substrate preparation.
