I Description and Scope

The MULTICOAT KRETE KOTE System is a super bonding, flexible Synthetic Resin modified cementitous coating which forms a cost-effective, durable, anti-skid, weather and chemical resistant surface over properly prepared substrates. It can be applied to driveways, walkways, steps, decks, buildings, bridges, etc.

The scope of this specification is to describe all materials and procedures required for installation of the KRETE KOTE SYSTEM

II Materials

1) KRETE COAT 2000 Protective Coating
As manufactured by MULTICOAT CORPORATION

Shall be a synthetic resin modified cementitioous material, furnished in dry form, mixed with potable water at job site in proportions so as to provide alternate consistencies for application by brush, squeegee, spray or trowel.

Physical properties of the cured mix shall meet or exceed the following test criteria:

KRETE COAT 2000
  TEST METHOD RESULTS
1. Weatherometer ASTM G23 2000 Hrs-Passed
2. Compression Strength ASTM C109...
45 Days air cured
2595psi
3. Tensile Strength ASTM-C190 457psi
4. Bond Strength
(Flatwise Tension)
ASTM-C297 225psi
5. Abrasion Test ASTM-1242A...
1000cyc-1000gms
39 mil loss
6. Salt Spray ASTM-B117 300 Hrs-Passed
7. Water Vapor Transmission ASTM-E96A 1.26 Perms
8. 50-Cycle Freeze Thaw ASTM-C67 Passed
9. Flexural Strength ASTM-D790 Modulus of Rupture-770psi
10. Impact Resistance MIL-D-3134F Passed
11. Flame Spread ASTM-E84 Class A

2) ARCATHANE COLORSEAL/CLEARSEAL
As manufactured by MULTICOAT COPORATION

Shall be a high solids waterbase Synthetic Latex protective coating for cleaning ease. Proprietary formulation and physical characteristics designed for compatibility with KRETE KOTE 2000.

III Surface Preparation

1) Surface must be structurally sound, free from grease, oil, paint, dirt, dust, sealers, laitence, curing compounds and other foreign materials which mat prevent proper bonding. Use short blast, sand blast, or water blasting with sand injector (3500 psi minimum). For heavy grease use biodegradable degreaser, with steam cleaning machine, if necessary.

2) Cracks must be repaired and all holes, voids, beehives, etc. must be filled with MULTICOAT SPEED BOND.

3) Expansion joints must be installed, cleaned if existing.

4) Surface should be dry to touch prior to APPLICATION

IV Application

1. FIRST COAT KRETE KOTE 2000
A. Mix with potable (clean) water in approximate amount of 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 gallons per 65 lb. bag preferably with MULTICOAT Mixing Paddle. Mix vigorously todisbursee all lumps and thoroughly wet all particles.
(1 - 1 1/2 minutes minimum after all dry material added)
B. Adjust to desiredconsistencyy by addition ofsmalll amount of water, if needed.
C. Apply with roller, trowel, or squeegee. Allow to set, usually 1-2 hours, longer in cool weather. Substrate condition may require a second coat - Same as First Coat.
2. TEXTURE COAT
A. Same as First Coat except apply with Hopper Gun - trowel "knock down" for French Lace Texture.
B. Allow to cure minimum of 12 hours for foot traffic, 48-72 hours for vehicle traffic, longer in cool weather.
3. COLORSEAL/CLEARSEAL - Apply per instructions in two thin coats.

V Warning

Do Not Coat Or Cover Expansion Joints. If Expansion Joints Are Covered During The Process, Re-Cut, Clear-Out, And Caulk All Expansion Joints.

Do not apply when substrate surface temperature is below 500F, above 1000F, if ambient temperature is below 500F and falling, over 1000F and expected to rise, or if precipitation is expected within a 24 hour period.

DO NOT USE IF CONCRETE SLAB MAY BE SUBJECT TO NEGATIVE SIDE WATER OR WATER VAPOR PRESSURE.

VI Warranty

Materials are guaranteed with respect to uniformity and quality within manufacturers' specifications. Seller makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, regarding the use of its products. Since use of the product is beyond the Seller's control, the Buyer assumes all risks of use. Seller's sole obligation shall be to replace materials if found to be defective.
