The MULTICOTE SLATEX BELOW GRADE Waterproofing System is a multilayer seamless protective coating which combines an elastomeric waterproof membrane (MULASTICOAT) with a Synthetic Resin modified cementitious coating.
The SLATEX BELOW GRADE SYSTEM can be applied to most surfaces such as concrete block, poured in place concrete, slumpstone, polyfoam sheathing, etc.

Advantages
  • Superior Waterproofing
  • Easy to Apply - No Special Safety Apparatus Required
  • Cost Effective - Minimal Down Time
  • Highly Resistant to Fungus/Mildew
  • Superior Bonding
  • High Impact and Abrasion Resistance
  • Superior Freeze - Thaw Resistance
  • Waterbase - Environmentally Safe to Use and Apply

Specifications

I Description and Scope

The MULTICOTE SLATEX BELOW GRADE Waterproofing System is a multilayer seamless coating consisting of a waterproofing membrane protected by an overcoat of a Synthetic resin modified cementitious material.

It can be applied to walls or foundations constructed of concrete block, poured in place concrete, slumpstone, polyfoam sheathing, etc.

The scope of this specification is to describe the materials and installation procedure for the SLATEX BELOW GRADE Waterproofing System.

III SURFACE PREPARATION

1. All surfaces must be structurally sound and free of grease, oil, paint, dirt, dust, sealers, laitence, concrete curing compounds and other foreign materials which may prevent proper bonding of MULASTICOAT.

2. Cracks must be repaired and all holes, voids, bee hives, etc. must be filled with suitable mortar or grout. They should be allowed to cure and scraped even with surface prior to application of MULASTICOAT.

3. Surface should be dry to touch prior to MULASTICOAT application.

IV Application

1. MULASTICOAT

A. Apply first coat of MULASTICOAT firmly with a 3/4" to 1 1/4" nap roller. Cover entire surface area, including footing, extending to a minimum 6" above grade line. Allow to dry a minimum of 2 hours prior to second coat application.

B. Apply second coat (crisscrossed) with airless sprayer or roller cover. Be sure all pin-holes, voids, etc. are completely covered. Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours.

NOTE: Coverage, two(2) coats. 40-50 sq. ft. per gallon.

2. SCRATCH KOTE 2000 Protective Coating

A. Clean MULASTICOAT Surface with damp sponge.

B. Apply finish coat of SCRATCH KOTE 2000 with 1 1/4" roller cover. SCRATCH KOTE 2000 vigorously feild mixed with potable (clean) water to thoroughly disperse solids in approximate amount of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 gals per 65 lb. bag. Use MULASTICOAT special mixing paddle, and margin trowel to clear vessel walls. Adjust consistency so applied material does not slump or stick to roller.

C. One hour after application is complete, check to make sure MULASTICOAT is completely covered (no blue should show). Allow 24 hours before back filling. DRAINAGE SYSTEM SHOULD BE INSTALLED BEFORE BACK FILLING.

3. PRECAUTIONS

A. Entire substrate and waterproofing covering should be in accordance with all applicable building codes.

B. New concretes should be aged a minimum of 10 to 20 days after pouring and at least 2 days after form removal before ccommencing applications.

NOTE: When liquid form releases are needed, use only WATERBASE products.

Warning:

Do not apply any components of SLATEX SYSTEM when substrate surface temperature is below 500F,above 1000F, if ambient temperature is below 500F and falling, over 1000F and expected to rise, or if precipitation is expected within 24 hour period.

DO NOT USE IF WALL IS SUBJECTED TO NEGATIVE SIDE WATER OR WATER VAPOR PRESSURE.
